Eagle Creek Quilt Shop, Inc. has a beautiful full-time classroom and offers a wide variety of classes from basic beginning quilting to advanced machine piecing techniques.

Enrollment Form

This class is designed for students who wish to meet twice a month with Pat and work on their applique projects. The class is broken into four different sessions throughout the year and would be a perfect class for someone new to applique. Pat spends personal time with each student on their projects. Come and learn from the master of needle turn applique.

Class fee: $42 per session

Customers love the look of this wonderful 13" wide by 9" tall bag. You will zigzag fabric tubes together to make a large rectangle, overlap the edges, and add the bag bottom. The end result is one gorgeous purse/basket. NEW - We have just added sixteen different button options for your bag. Kathy has made over 50 bags and is a real pro at this method. Sewing machine with a zigzag stitch is required. Some homework must be completed before class.

Beginner 

If you've struggled with paper foundation piecing on your own, or just haven't understood the technique, this class is for you. You'll start with "easy" blocks, move on to more complicated blocks and be surprised at how perfect they all turn out. Paper piecing is a technique every quilter should have in their repertoire. This is one of our most popular classes so sign up early if you are interested.

Beginner

In this 5 session course, you will learn basic rotary cutting and safety, four different machine piecing techniques and will finish your quilt top in the last class. Students will be able to complete each block in the time allowed. Eagle Creek will provide rotary mats and rulers for use in class. You may register to use one of our sewing machines. Class size is small to provide maximum attention to each student. Students should stop into the shop before class to pick out their fabrics.

Prerequisite: Beginning Quiltmaking
We have designed this class specifically for our new quilting students who have just completed Beginning Quilting. In this one day class you will baste and machine quilt your class project. Peggy will also cover batting basics, sewing machine needles, thread and binding your quilt.

Intermediate

The Boxy Tote is perfect for toting your favorite Singer Featherweight or use it as a convenient overnight bag. It features pockets all the way around on the inside and outside for maximum storage. The heavy duty stays keep the bag's mouth wide open for easy access. The tote is 14" wide, 12" tall and 11" deep and can be used for any purpose you can think of. We have broken the class down into three sessions to give you ample time to finish. In the fall session everyone walked out with a completed bag.

Beginner

Join Sandi on a monthly basis for the new Wool Sewciety. This class is intended for customers who are working on their long term wool projects. No formal instruction will be given but Sandi will serve as a great resource should you have questions about your previous wool projects/classes with her. There will be lots of show and tell along with plenty of encouragement to keep you on track.

Kim is leading our Fab Friday sew-ins. Bring your machine and a current project (or find a new one at the shop). This is a great low-key evening for you to spend time relaxing and sewing with friends.

Beginner

You just purchased a new-to-you featherweight but how do you keep it running at peak performance? In this class you will learn where to oil and grease your machine, what to use to clean it, how to grease the motor and balance your bobbin tension along with much more. You will be amazed how your machine purrs when it's oiled properly. Do yourself a favor - give your machine a spa day!

Advanced

You've learned the basics on how to care for your featherweight. Now it's time for a deep dive to learn to take apart your tension unit and bobbin case. Timing belt and foot pedal adjustments will also be covered.

Intermediate
The new Teeny Tiny Collage patterns from Laura Heine are just too cute and too fun to make. This new set of patterns includes a pincushion, dress form and the sewing machine all in a 16" x 20" format. Peggy cleverly stretched her completed project onto an artist canvas to give it a more dimensional look. This summer Peggy had a workshop with Laura Heine and has many tips for working these lovely collage patterns.

advanced beginner
Keep your tech cords and accessories organized or use the bag for everyday storage of sewing or craft supplies. With six slip pockets, one zip pocket, and the main compartment, there is plenty of room for ear buds, phone cords, a battery charger and cord and much more. The mini cord wraps will keep your cords tangle free. Peggy made these for each of her adult children for Christmas. Simple, easy and a fun way to learn about zippers, magnets, and mesh fabric.

Beginner

Many of you have been requesting a basic binding class, so here it is! We will cover straight grain and bias binding, single vs double binding and the different methods that can be used to finish the ends of your binding. Three different binding rulers will be shown and demonstrated. The newest ruler, "Shortcut Binding Tool" allows you to make the binding and flange as one unit that is all machine stitched to your quilt, no hand sewing involved. It even allows you to make a two sided, two color binding!

We heard you! You love Jen and want more time to play with others who feel like you. This club is open to all customers who are currently working on any of Jen Kingwell's patterns. This is the place where you can get together with other Kingwell fans and share your piecing secrets, trade fabric and immerse yourself in all things Jen.

Lynette will be there to help facilitate any discussion topics and share your love of fabric and intricate piecing. Club will run for six months.

Club meets the fourth Friday of each month starting in January 2020.

Advanced Beginner
We are bringing back a classic technique from fourteen years ago. One Block Wonders are even better than ever with the new large scale prints available today. Join Mary to learn what this fun technique is all about. You will be amazed at the designs you can create with your fabric. When you stop in the store to pick out your fabric, we will use an app to help you determine what your blocks might look like.

Open to all rug hookers, the hook-ins are the first Tuesday evening of each month. Come and be inspired and motivated by these wonderfully creative women. The conversation is excellent and the advice is always free.

Join us for our inspiring and educational club. Each month, members enjoy delicious breakfast meals created by our chefs and will receive the recipe.

Our new educational component is Tucker University. One ruler at a time - we will go in-depth into the myriad uses for each particular ruler with technique sheets, demo boards and sample blocks. (Ruler purchase is not required.)

We finish up our morning with show-n-tell inspiration and wonderful door prizes. Members may also be eligible for special prizes and/or sales on some months.

Let Gail show you how fun (and forgiving) it is to work with wool felt as you make your own small penny rug. This is a technique class designed to teach you the blanket stitch and how to work with wool and wool felt. Class projects change with the season and may not be the one pictured above. Class fee includes kit and free pattern. This is a very popular class so sign up early!

Are you ready to add a wow factor to your next Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star project? This is it! A slivering construction step allows you to create amazing spiked blooming Lemoyne Stars and the unusual block arrangement adds to the extra impact you are looking for. We will be using the Studio 180 Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler.

Becky created this colorful quilt using Jen Kingwell fabrics and the Dresden Quilt Workshop book by Susan Marth. In this six month class you will learn many techniques such as invisible applique, dresden plate blocks, flying geese using the Wing Clipper ruler and raw edge applique, just to name a few. Students will sharpen their piecing skills and be inspired to view fabric in a different way. This is a great block of the month class for anyone looking to increase their skills and make new quilting friends.

The staff at ECQS is absolutely obsessed with Jen Kingwell. When I asked them if we should run this class again they all shouted "YES". The class will sharpen your piecing skills and encourage you to branch out by using different techniques such as paper piecing, templates, embroidery and applique. This quilt also uses an eclectic mix of fabrics that will shake up any traditional mind set you may hold. Nine month class.
