Anything Goes

Just about anything can fit into this large tote bag. It's made from 2 1/2" fabric strips and Bosal double-sided fusible batting (available in a precut 2 1/4" strip package.) The Bosal helps it to stand up on it's own and gives it extra body. Leave it plain or add pockets to the inside and a closure to the outside. Sandi is a pro at teaching this technique. Join her for the fun! Zig-zag sewing machine required.

Machine applique

Becky picked this lovely feather table runner as the perfect project to learn machine applique. The shapes are large with easy curves to turn under. There is no need to be afraid of the "A" word (applique!) anymore. Once you have your machine set up with the proper stitch, you will be zipping along in no time. A limited number of kits are available.

Milky Way

I love the way these stars spin in the background. Three of us collaborated to piece this quilt and we used small amounts of 34 different fabrics. Our sample is a crib/lap size but you can make any size you wish. Students will use the 6" Scrap Crazy rulers. Kits are available for $16.95 and include the 34 fabrics we used. Pick your own background. Will you choose a midnight blue to be more like the Milky Way or the new fun and funky newsprint backgrounds? Decisions, decisions....

Another winning design from Laundry Basket Quilts. Chris will show you how to stay organized while cutting the reverse images needed for this 48" x 48" quilt. Cutting these non-standard shapes is made quicker and easier by using the acrylic template set ($12). The center of each block is covered with a small circle and different applique methods will be discussed. Kits are available for this quilt.

Cadence Court

The gals from Sassafras Lane Designs have done it again. They created this wonderful paper pieced quilt that Vicki will teach as a 6 month block of the month. Our first session filled so quickly that we are now offering a second session to accommodate everyone. Vicki's sample features a whirling rainbow of color and kits are available for purchase. The paper templates are clearly marked and the shapes are intriguing. As far as paper piecing goes, this class is a friendly advanced beginner level. Come join in the fun.

If you want a stash busting quilt, this is the one to choose. We used 69 different fabrics just for the geese units and 9 different backgrounds. Why? Because we could! We also used the Studio 180 Tucker Trimmer and Wing Clipper tools to make perfect units. Those rulers are optional but do make the piecing easier. Join Becky for the day and learn how to piece this block perfectly.

This class is a great way to learn the technique without having to create a huge quilt. So be prepared to channel your inner artist when you join Peggy for the day. In order to get the most out of your class, there will be prep work ahead of time. Batik kits will also be available.

She will teach three different techniques: Liberty Lemoyne Star (top), Blazing Lemoyne Star (left) and Banded Lemoyne Star (right). Students will create one block of each technique.
